Red Iron Oxide

RedThe red iron oxide(hematite)has the chemical formula of α-Fe2O₃and the most stable form compared to the other iron xoides. The color of hematite is likely depended on its size.It turns into bright red with the diameter of a particle at 0.1-0.2㎛, which will become red as the diameter gets larger, and purple when the size is 0.5-0.1㎛ The Tae Sung red iron oxides are used in coatings, plastics, rubber, ceramics, ferrite, and many other applications because of their acid and alkali resistance, purity, heat stability, and good compatibility. They exhibit little or no reflectance below 400nm. It means that they are strong UV absorbers and consequently they help protect the binders in paint, plastics, and other products from sunlight degradation. The Tae Sung red iron oxide can be used as the main substance in the production of hard ferrite (BaFe₂O₄) which are properly blended and calcined with such metal oxides: BaO, SrO, ZnO, NiO,and etc.

Application: Interlocking block, paint, ink, glass, rubber, plastic, cement, ceramics, asphalt, animal feeds, fertilizer, magnetic materials

Black Iron Oxide

BlackThe black iron oxide(magnetite)has the chemical formula of FeO · Fe₂O₃which is often written in the combined form of Fe₃O₄. The synthetic black iron oxide color pigments have good acid and alkali resistance. They are also easily dispersed. It changes into brownish oxide at a temperature of 200-400℃ and then into red alpha femic oxide at 500-600℃. The Tae Sung synthetic black iron oxide is a versatile pigment as shown by the following listing of end uses.

Application: Paint, ink, rubber, plastic, cement, asphalt, paper, animal feeds, cosmetics, toner, magnetic ink.

Brown Iron Oxide

BrownIn black iron oxide, the theoretical FeO content is 23.8%. Tae Sung synthetic browns are well below that level, usually rangingfrom 1 to 10%FeO. The Tae Sung brown iron oxides have good chemical resistance, have high tinting strenght, and are nontoxic.theyare ideal piments for floor stains, house paints, fumiture stains, leather finishes, and concrete coloring. Brown iron oxides are very efficient in absorbing radiation in the UV range. This helps prevent the deterioration of paint films and plastics.

Application: Paint, ink, flooring, interior materials, cosmetics, rubber, plastic, cement, asphalt, paper, animal feeds.

Yellow Iron Oxide

YellowThe Tae Sung synthetic yellow iron oxide has the chemical formula of Fe₂O₃· H₂O which is often writen in the combined form of FeOOH. It is also the precursor for the production of magnetic recording oxides. The Tae Sung synthetic yellow iron oxide has a narrow particle size distribution, which enhances color and purity. The nedle crystal shaped yellow iron oxide is easily transformed into red iron oxide at a temperature of 180 ℃. TheTae Sung yellows iron oxides are the major pigments in the formulation of pastel paints owing to their low costs, perman-encies, and pleasing tint colors, and are strong absorbers of light in the blue and ultraviolet ranges. Hence, preventing the breakdown of polymers are used in coatings and plastics. The temperature sensitivity of yellow iron oxide imposes formulating limitations for some plastic systems. The construction industry is a major consumer of yellow iron oxides. One of the largest markets willbe in the colored concrete.

Application: Paint, ink, rubber, plastic, cement, paper, animal feeds, fertilizer, magnetic recording materials.

Other Pigments (Copper Phthalocyanine Blue / Green Pigments)

BlueThe Tae Sung copper phthalocyanine blue pigments is a bright blue microcrystal with puple luster. This copper phthalocyanine blue is not practiclly soluble in water, alcohol, and hydrocarbons, however they are soluble in 98% H2SO4, The copper phthalocyanine blue is stable toward heat(crystalline and pure sublimate obtained at about 580˚C in low pressure atmosphere of nitrogen or carbon dioxide), alkalis, and dilute acids. However it is decomposed by hot nitric acid, or dilute acid permanganate to yeild phthalimide. The copper phthalocyanine exists tow forms : The α-form(blue color) is less stable than the β-form(green color). In the presence of aromatic solvents, heat, high shear, etc., the α-form is converted to the β-form.

Application: Paint, ink, cement
